Wet Pressing

Wet Pressing

In Wet Pressing the reinforcements are watered either level by level or the matrix is poured over the reinforcements in female mold in one go. Male mold is used to compress the matrix tightly into the reinforcements while air escapes from the product.

The advantage is a higher reinforcement level than in open lamination and the matrix will not contain pores. Mold can be a plastic or an aluminium mold.

Volume may be from few hundreds to few thousands per year.

For example, an ice hockey goalkeeper's mask manufactured by Wet Pressing technique.
